(VAS for short) caught us off guard. While we have known of the company for a
number of years what surprised us was the size of the company and how much of
their work is outside of the UK. Mike Long one of the founders provided us with this
description of the company and to round things out we have several photos to give
you a better idea about the company. March 18/2013
"Vacuum and Atmosphere Services Ltd, formed in 2000 by two former Ipsen
employees now boast a workforce of 22, including specialized Engineers. Despite
the current economic climate, VAS have increased their staff by 25% in the last 12
months. The early decisions gave VAS a solid platform to build on, employing
experienced Engineers, Sales staff and investing in apprentices. In total two
apprentices have progressed to become Service Engineers and a further two
currently progressing through their early years. VAS offer many services including
service and spares support, vacuum furnace relines, Atmosphere furnace re bricks,
fabrications, new control panels, furnace relocations and new furnace equipment. In
recent years VAS have successfully relined or rebricked Ipsen, TAV, Schmetz,
Elterma, Seco Warwick, Abar and CVE furnaces. Our Engineers are all fully qualified
and travel worldwide, working on all types of industrial furnaces, and on all
manufacturers. VAS also offer TUS and calibration services, in line with
AMS2750E.In recent years VAS have developed our range of services, including the
recent purchase of Aabco Ltd, furnace handling equipment and the development of
Furnace Fabrications Ltd, manufacturers of retorts, work fixturing, burner mantle
tubes etc. Demand throughout Europe has led to VAS engaging with a network of
similar minded companies to offer our services, regions include the Nordic region,
Germany, France, Poland and Holland giving VAS the opportunity to capitalize on
regions dominated by the OEMs. VAS currently occupy a 10000 sq ft factory located
in Central England, which has recently had a 2000 sq ft extension to enable the
development of new products including the introduction of manufacturing. For
