covering territories in the UK and USA. Jason joined PhoenixTM on March 11 2013
after 8 years as regional sales manager with a major supplier of temperature
profiling equipment. He was responsible for developing the market in Japan and
Korea, and later in Eastern Europe, and Africa. Jason has considerable experience
in 'Hot Box' profiling applications where a high accuracy data logger is put into a
furnace protected by a 'Hot Box' heat shield to measure the temperature profile of
the furnace or carry out a temperature uniformity survey. Please join me in
Again in the UK one of the largest commercial heat treaters in the country,
Wallwork Heat Treatment is adding more capacity. "Thermal processing and
surface engineering specialist, Wallwork Heat Treatment, has commissioned a new
800 Kilo capacity furnace for the processing of aluminium and magnesium products.
The new furnace provides variable heat treatment for cast, forged, wrought or
fabricated components from single items of up two cubic metres to batches of
components as small as 0.5mm diameter. "Our core business remains the thermal
processing and surface coating of high value components for aerospace, motorsport
and medical device manufacturers. The new non-ferrous furnace adds to our
commercial processing capability and is part of a three year development program
that will see a further significant increase in this capacity," explained sales and
marketing director Simeon Collins. The furnace is equipped to use a variety of
quenchants and has the capability to achieve a rapid quench time of less than 10
seconds. Very small pressed or cast parts can therefore be processed effectively.
Business development manager for the project, Ian Lacey, commented, "All
processes are fully documented for quality assurance purposes, currently to AS9100
standard and we have on-site laboratory back-up for testing and validation. We can
process test items to prove the effectiveness of the treatment before scaling up to
full volume processing. Many of our customers welcome the opportunity to have a
single source for all their heat treatment needs." Operating from three UK sites at
Manchester, Birmingham and Cambridge, with a fleet of over 40 vehicles providing
collection and delivery, Wallwork provide a rapid turn-around service nation-wide.
Plans are in hand to increase thermal processing capacity in the company with
further investment in equipment later in the year". The photo below was taken
