leading automotive manufacturers, hydraulic and actuation system providers,
machinery contractors and producers of consumer goods. In common with other
low temperature surface treatments supplied by TTI Group, Nitrotec® does not
introduce distortion into the part, this means that components can be used and
fitted directly after treatment. Nitrotec Services offer a range of surface treatments,
designed to provide exactly the right surface conditions for each application
required by customers." Certainly we know of a number of licensees of the process
around the world and each raves about the process. Moving from Nitrotec to PVD
Coatings we received a brief education about the technology. Basically (if we
understood the process correctly) PVD provides a Titanium Nitride coating which
provides a hard wear resistance and also a very memorable golden finish which can
be seen on a variety of different parts. Both the Nitrotec process and PVD coatings
are relatively unusual in commercial heat treaters and this has given the plant a
unique niche market. PVD coatings has proven so successful that 2012 was a
record breaking year for the facility which meant an investment of over $1 million
USD in a new system which can be seen in the picture below and which just
entered service. The individuals are from the left Gord Montgomery (holding an
