The home maintenance service provides assistance, advice and information on minor home repairs and
maintenance, minor modifications and home security to eligible older people and people with a disability,
who are home owners or live in private rental housing and are in receipt of an Australian Government
pension.
The Home Modifications service undertakes significant structural changes to the home of eligible older
people or people with a disability, in order to maintain a person’s safety, health and independent living
skills.

lawn mowing service
The Townsville City Council lawn mowing service assists eligible residents with the basic maintenance
of their lawns and yards and to keep the immediate surrounds of their home in a safe and habitable
condition. The area to be mown is limited to the size of an average suburban yard, inlcuding the footpath.
All applicants must be assessed to determine their eligibility for this service. To access the lawn mowing
service, a resident must:
>> Be in receipt of a relevant Australian pension.
>> The property must be within the City of Townsville and the applicant’s principal place of residence.
>> The disability or health condition must be a permanent condition.
>> The resident must be unable to access other forms of assistance to mow their lawn.
