HL DISPLAY’S OFFER Broad product range for the retail sector HL Display currently has a broad range of category solutions for whole product categories and products in the fields of in-store communication and merchandising. Previously sales were aimed largely at the food retail sector and its brand suppliers. Now HL Display has further developed its range for the non-food retail sector in order to create opportunities for growth in new market segments. Down the years HL Display has grown from being a product supplier to its current position of also being a supplier of complete display solutions for whole product categories, so-called category solutions. A category solution contains products that improve the way in which products are displayed, such as shelf dividers, various types of feeder systems that ensure that products are always displayed at the front of the shelf and display hooks for products that are displayed hanging. It also includes products that guarantee that the consumer is given the relevant price and product information where the product is displayed. Further developments in product range HL Display’s focus on category solutions is a natural development of the range of products that the company offers its customers. As category-based retail becomes increasingly prevalent among retail food chains, they want to display the various categories in a co-ordinated way. Among other things, retail food chains and brand manufacturers who supply goods within a category are wanting to HL DISPLAY ANNUAL REPORT 2004 10 display goods in a way that makes life easier for the consumer, generates impulse purchases and increases sales of goods with high margins. HL Display’s extensive experience as an innovative supplier of products for in-store communication and merchandising means that the company can help its customers to develop the best display solution for their various product categories. HL Display can now in principle offer complete solutions for all categories in the retail food sector, but development and sales work is focusing on five target categories: Fresh Products, Frozen Products, Health & Beauty, Confectionery and Tobacco. What these categories have in common is that, among other things, each display solution influences sales of goods with high margins and in some cases produces significant cost savings through a reduction in the number of scrapped items. Product sales still important HL Display’s comprehensive product range forms the basis of the company’s category solutions. While HL Display places great HL Display’s extensive product range forms the basis of what the company offers its customers. Customers in the retail food sector are also offered complete category solutions for entire product categories. HL Display’s range for the non-food retail sector focuses initially on four segments, and in due course there is good potential to develop the range to also include category solutions.

In this work HL Display can benefit from its experiences of working with the food retail sector, which has on many occasions been a trend-setter as regards in-store communication and merchandising. Initially HL Display is focusing on four segments in the non-food retail sector: DIY stores, sports outlets, home electronics stores and drug stores/beauty shops. In the longer term there is also potential within these non-food retail segments to develop the range to include category solutions. Light bulbs, glue and paint are examples of categories where the consumer has an information need that could be better served by HL Display’s solutions.
