FAQ: Network settings – Windows 2000/XP Open „Control Panel‟ (Start Settings Control Panel) or (Start Control Panel). Open „Network and Internet Settings‟ (this may also be „Network Connections‟ – if so, proceed to step d). Open be „Network Connections‟ Right-click the icon for „Local area connection‟ and click the „Properties‟ button. If not already selected, select „Show icon in notification area when connected‟. Make sure the „Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)‟ option is pre-selected. Select the line and click „Properties‟. Select „Obtain an IP address automatically‟ (DHCP) and „Obtain DNS server automatically‟ and click „OK‟. Close the next window by clicking „OK‟. Network settings –MAC OS X Open „System Preferences‟ either via the Apple menu or the icon in the docking station. Select the „Network icon‟. If not already selected, select „Automatic‟ from the drop-down menu for „Location‟. Select „Ethernet (built in)‟ from the „Show‟ menu. (If the selection is not available, select „Network Port Configurations‟ instead and select the „Ethernet (built in) option. Click „Apply‟ to return. If not already selected, go to the „TCP/IP‟ tab. Select „With DHCP‟ from the drop down menu for „Configure IPV4‟. Click „Apply‟. Check that the line „IP address‟ is automatically filled in. Close the Settings window and start your browser. Do I need to configure any Internet settings? Go to the Control Panel Open „Internet Options‟ and „Connections‟. If your computer is already set for remote connection, make sure „Never dial up a connection‟ is selected. Verify (under the „LAN Settings‟ button) that the Proxy Server option is not preselected. Done. You can now shut any windows open for Control Panel and Network Settings and start your browser. The browser will automatically open a start-up display where you can select your preferred service provider for your connection to Lunds Energi‟s Open City Network. 29

If you have selected a service provider, call the service provider‟s customer service/support line. Why can’t I access the Internet, even though I have selected a service provider? Connection may take varying times depending on which Internet service provider you choose.
