Story for team:<br />

Dispatch Center Report:<br />

Man called ambulance because on his way to work he found a parked car on the roadside. In the car he found two men, one vomiting.<br />

Your task is:<br />

assess scene and assure security<br />

determine diagnosis<br />

consider safety and report measures<br />

Local situation:<br />

Nearest hospital is 20 km by ground transport with surgery, internal medicine (neurologists on duty nonstop),gynecology and obstetric and biochemistry.<br />

Higher level hospital 42 km by ground transport, dept. as A + ED, anaesthesia and General Intensive Care, ENT, CT, neurologic dept. with ICU, psychiatry, infectious diseases and pediatric dept.<br />

Specialized centre 55 km by ground. Depts. as B + traumacentre, burn unit, cardiocentre, stroke unit, NMR.<br />

Helicopter rescue available at 15 mins.<br />

Situation on task:<br />

Vehicle at small stopping place, in front of the vehicle one man waving at the Ambulance car. He immediately announces that on his way to work (train conductor) he noticed the parked car and two<br />

men inside. One is shaking from cold and vomiting, the other is also feeling very bad and has big pain. The train conductor tried to help them somehow, gave water to one and handkerchiefs to the<br />

other. He called the Ambulance but has to hurry now and is leaving. One man from injured announces that they are returning with his colleague from Kenya and that his colleague was sick and<br />

vomiting already in the airplane. Now they are both sick.<br />

It is required to inform all persons on site of accident<br />

about the danger and secure the spreading of<br />

infection by stopping everyone and not letting them<br />

go, including the train conductor!<br />

Parenteral infusions and repeat vital signs<br />

measurement.<br />

Crew is probably also infected, collecting of all<br />

contaminated material in one marked bag, desinfect<br />

hands and get ready for transport to specialised<br />

centre for isolation.<br />
