Dog Grooming Skills – 

Professional Recognition 

This one day course is an 

intensive version of the Level 

3 Professional Dog Grooming 

short course. Successful 

completion provides 

professional recognition for 

experienced dog groomers. 

Applicants must be able to 

perform breed specific clips to 

industry standards on time in a 

real life salon environment. Our 

experienced grooming teacher 

will assess your practical 

ability to work effectively 

in the grooming industry 

through direct observation 

and questioning. Applicants 

are required to groom and 

hydrobath two dogs of 

different breeds to professional 

standards in 5 hours.

This five day course is designed for those interested in becoming 

dog groomers. No dog grooming experience is needed, although 

animal handling skills and experience are useful. Practical hydrobathing, 

grooming and basic pet care constitute a large part of 

this course. Information on how to run a successful business and 

personal skills required to become a successful dog groomer are 

included with a reference book on dog grooming techniques. All

to Horse 

Ownership 

Learn the basics of horse care to ensure the safety and welfare 

of your horse. A great course for people looking to purchase 

their first horse or parents of a riding child. Theory classes 

are delivered at Box Hill Institute on Thursday evenings from

two full day practical workshops held on Saturdays at an

Do you need to improve your reading, writing, 

science and maths skills for the Australian 

workplace? CAE offers Reading, Writing, Science 

and Maths classes at many levels in a friendly 

and supportive adult learning environment. Study

Certificates I, II, III & IV in EAL (Access) 

Study for half a year or a year, full time or part time, daytime or 

evening. Develop your speaking, listening, reading, writing, spelling 

and grammar skills in English. On completion of a Certificate in EAL 

(Access), you may go on to further training or study, employment or

Employment Development Program – 7 week course plus 6 week 

placement. 

For professional migrants with overseas qualifications and 

experience. This program aims to train overseas born professionals 

to successfully navigate the job market and transfer their overseas 

experience and skills to the local workplace. Seven weeks full time 

class attendance, followed by 6 week work placement in a relevant 

professional field (subject to availability). The teaching team have 

conducted over 40 courses with excellent employment outcomes for 

participants across a wide range of professions.

Occupational English Test (OET) -10 week Preparation Course 

The Occupational English Test (OET) is a language examination for 

qualified health practitioners who wish to gain provisional registration 

to practice in Australia. OET preparation courses at CAE assist 

medical professionals prepare for the OET examination. They provide 

a wide range of authentic material, regular exam practice and a 

stimulating classroom environment. The course covers in detail the 

four skills areas required for the OET examination: listening, speaking, 

writing and reading. Support classes are also available.

with individualised learning (9.30am-2.30pm, Monday-Friday)

NEW PATHWAYS 

The New Pathways program is most suited to individuals who have left school, are at risk of leaving 

school and are not in full time employment, but want to gain a qualification. New Pathways is an ideal 

pathway into apprenticeships, TAFE or employment. If you decide to pursue a more academic pathway, 

you have the option to move into VCAL or possibly VCE. 


PRE-ACCREDITED TRAINING 

Pre-accredited training at CAE offers the first step back into learning for people who have faced barriers 

to education and/or employment. Programs include: Literacy and Numeracy Skills, beginners and 

workplace computer skills, Business Basics for Women, Preparation for Visual Arts and employability 

skills training. CAE also works with a range of community partners to develop and deliver targeted 

pre-accredited training programs onsite and offsite.

WITHDRAWALS If you need to withdraw from a course, you are required to give at 

least four working days notice prior to the start date of the course. A $55 withdrawal 

fee applies. Refunds may take up to 15 working days. No refunds, transfers or credit 

notes will be issued for withdrawals when less than four working days notice is given.
