Introduction
This course is an introduction
to designing healthy and energy
efficient homes. It will improve
participant’s understanding
of hygrothermal processes in
buildings, and outline strategies
for designing energy-efficient
homes. It can also be the first
step in gaining an internationally
recognised qualification as
Certified Passive House

Refrigeration
Course in Natural
Refrigerants, Air-conditioning
and Refrigeration Systems
The use of natural refrigerants
in Australia is rapidly increasing
as the refrigeration industry
responds to environmental
and safety concerns.
Current refrigeration and
air conditioning workers
require additional training
in the correct handling of
natural refrigerants during
installation, commissioning,
servicing and repair. This
course equips participants
with the skills and knowledge
required to properly handle
hydrocarbon refrigerants.
Prerequisites: You must hold
a Certificate III in Refrigeration
and Air Conditioning trade
qualification, or Certificate III
in Appliance Servicing trade
qualification, or equivalent.

Designed for Base Cabling
Licence (BCL) holders who
wish to gain the Structured
Cabling Category 5 cabling
licensing endorsement (the
Co-axial Cabling endorsement

course). Learn about AS3080,
transmission principles and
terminology, LAN topologies
and transmission systems,

testing and certification

Assessment (Safe Working
Practice) Assessment Only
The Safe Working Practice
(SWP) assessment is one
of three components of
the Licensed Electrician
Assessment (LEA) that must
be completed to gain an
Electrician’s License from
Energy Safe Victoria (ESV).
You must confirm eligibility to
sit SWP with the Electrical and
Refrigeration Trades Centre prior
to sitting the examination. Proof
of eligibility must be provided by
your training provider.

Testing and Tagging
of Portable Electrical
Appliances
Learn how to correctly test and
tag electrical equipment, and
identify faults using a manually
operated insulation resistance
tester and an appliance tester.
On completion, you will receive
a certificate with an awards
number for your tags. Please

Get the skills and knowledge
you will need to sit Licensed
Electricians Practice (LEP). The
LEP assessment is the third of
three separate assessments
towards the Licensed Electrician
Assessment. Prerequisites: A
satisfactorily completed profile
for the two competencies
Install/Terminate LV Cables
and Test Apparatus/Circuits.
