A case of Eastern equine encephalitis<br />
(EEE) has been confirmed in a horse in<br />
Worcester County. <strong>The</strong> horse tested positive<br />
for EEE which, like West Nile virus, is<br />
spread by mosquitoes. Officials remind<br />
Marylanders to take precautions to protect<br />
themselves and their families from mosquito<br />
bites to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.<br />
EEE is spread by the bite of an infected<br />
mosquito and can cause a swelling of the<br />

Non-profit environmental center requires part-time aquatic animal care provider, immediately through December. Duties<br />
include daily fish, invertebrate, and reptile diet prep and feeding, twice-weekly cleaning and maintenance of aquariums and<br />
flow-through tanks. 5 days/week, 2-4 hours/day. Reliability, attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, willingness to get<br />

At this annual event, the Phillips Wharf Environmental Center returns to the Bay animals that<br />
have spent the summer in its exhibition tanks. Children carry horseshoe crabs, blue crabs and a<br />
variety of other Chesapeake Bay creatures to the edge of Knapps Narrows for release. <strong>The</strong>re<br />
will be book readings, DNR's Scales and Tales exhibit of live reptiles and birds of prey, games,<br />
face painting, crafts and other entertainment. Pit beef prepared by Catering by Jamie and much<br />
more. It's a great way to meet other people who care about the environment and becoming<br />
stewards of the Bay. <strong>The</strong> Center is located at 21604 Chicken Point Road in Tilghman, MD and is<br />
based in the last surviving crab shanty on Knapps Narrows. <strong>The</strong> Center exhibits Bay creatures<br />
and hosts individual visitors, tour groups and school field trips from April to October.<br />
Critter Release marks the end of the season at the Center.<br />
