introduction to the principles <strong>of</strong> correct pronunciation <strong>of</strong> English, Italian<br />

and Latin for singing. Students will learn and use the International Phonetic<br />

Alphabet (IPA) as a symbolic medium. The rules <strong>of</strong> pronunciation will be<br />

illustrated through the study and performance <strong>of</strong> songs from English and<br />

Italian art song and operation repertoire, and Latin choral repertoire. (Irreg.)<br />

3292 Singer’s Diction II. Prerequisite: junior standing in music, and 3282.<br />

Provides an introduction to the principles <strong>of</strong> correct pronunciation <strong>of</strong><br />

German and French for singing. Students will learn and use the<br />
