High-tech leader launches
BC Business Summit 2000
The second-ever BC Business
Summit conference will be held on
November 18-19, 2000 at the Westin
Bayshore Hotel & Convention Centre
in Vancouver.
BC Business Summit 2000 will be
attended by entrepreneurs and private
sector leaders from throughout the
province, including the ICABC. The
event will build upon the momentum
created by the first BC Business Summit
in 1998 and the Panel on Securing
BC’s Future in the fall of 1999 in pursuit
of economic change and renewal in
British Columbia.
“I believe we are on the threshold
of tremendous economic and social
change in this province, and I am proud
to be part of a business community that
is taking a leadership role in forging that
change,” said Bob Bailey, CEO of PMC
Sierra Inc. in announcing the event.
The Summit process began in November
1998, when more than 800 business
leaders attended the first-ever BC Business
Summit conference. While the first Summit
event focused on the province’s economic
challenges and on identifying the policy
changes necessary for economic renewal,
BC Business Summit 2000 will focus on
creating a common vision for the province’s
economic future.
“BC Business Summit 2000 will
provide a venue for all business people to
contribute their perspectives, their experience
and their enthusiasm,” Bailey said.
BC Business Summit 2000 is being
organized by 52 business organizations
and industry associations, whose
memberships collectively represent
more than 90 per cent of all private
sector employers in British Columbia.
Detailed information about the BC
Business Summit 2000 program will be
released in the fall.
