This is an <strong>on</strong>l<strong>in</strong>e chapter from a book which discusses the<br />

development of early civilizati<strong>on</strong>s that specifically focuses<br />

<strong>on</strong> the rise of the Turkish Empire. Written <strong>in</strong> 1904 by a<br />

European historian, this work c<strong>on</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>s lots of anecdotes<br />

<strong>and</strong> pen <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>k draw<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

It has to be noted that civilizati<strong>on</strong>s are never built<br />

without foundati<strong>on</strong>s. Just like a wall made of bricks,<br />

they are all established up<strong>on</strong> former civilizati<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

Therefore it is quite possible to see traces of the very<br />

earliest cultures <strong>in</strong>herent <strong>in</strong> those that followed.<br />

If we want to speak about Turkey, we have to beg<strong>in</strong> by<br />

go<strong>in</strong>g back to the very early ages as the present<br />

country is an extensi<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> mixture of people who<br />
