The Bureau of Contract Administration is responsible for
Administration, Compliance and Inspection of Public Works
Projects. We believe quality does not cost; it pays. Proper training
prepares inspectors to ensure quality construction.

The Bureau of Contract Administration
has endeavored over its long history to
be the eyes and ears of the taxpayers
of our great city. We recognize and
take seriously the responsibility for administering the
billions of tax dollars for the building of streets, sewers,
treatment plants, harbor facilities, bridges, libraries,
animal shelters, police and fire stations and airport
facilities. Our department ensures that the funds
provided for this construction are properly spent.
This work requires highly trained and competent
inspection and administration staff to oversee these
complex projects. BCA has committed itself to provide
the type of training that gives our staff the best
knowledge and expertise possible to carry out their
mission. We cannot afford to settle for average. BCA
now has the finest Construction Inspector training
program in the nation. The BCA Training Division recently
received recognition from the International Association
for Continuing Education & Training (IACET). BCA is one
of only seven city agencies in North America
designated as an authorized Provider of Continuing
Education Units (CEU).
During FY07/08 BCA provided 10,000 hours of employee
training and awarded over 100 hours of CEUs.
