Students who have never taken a San Juan College credit class must apply for admission. To apply online go to sanjuancollege.edu/apply. 2. Take the Accuplacer placement test in the Advising and Counseling Center. Testing occurs Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8 a.m. -3 p.m., Tuesdays 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Thursdays 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Transfer students should bring a copy of their college transcripts to their advising appointment to determine if the Accuplacer is necessary. 3. Meet with an academic advisor in the Advising & Counseling Center to plan your classes and prepare for New Student Orientation (see page 6). 4. Register for New Student Orientation. Step 2 — Register for Classes • Registration period Continuing degree-seeking students November 12, 2012 - January 8, 2013 All continuing students November 19, 2012 - January 8, 2013 New students and new transfer students November 26, 2012 - January 8, 2013 • Continuing degree-seeking students: Register November 12, 2012 - January 8, 2013 Continuing degree-seeking students are those who have attended SJC for credit classes previously. If the student is degree-seeking and has completed less than 25 credits, the student must meet with his or her advisor to obtain registration authorization. • All continuing students: Register November 19, 2012 - January 8, 2013 All continuing students are those who have attended SJC for credit classes previously but have not declared a degree. • New students and new transfer students: Register November 26, 2012 - January 8, 2013 New students are students who have submitted a completed admission application and all required documents to the Enrollment Services (formerly Admissions and Records office), has taken the Accuplacer Assessment (if required), and has registered for and attended New Student Orientation. Register online Students may register online at https://webadvisor.sanjuancollege.edu. (See instructions on page 3.) Students may register online if . . . 1. The student is a RETURNING San Juan College student and has attended classes anytime during the last three regular semesters. If the student is degreeseeking and has completed less than 25 credits, the student must meet with his or her advisor to obtain registration authorization. 2. The student is a new student at San Juan College and has submitted a completed admission application to the Enrollment Services office, all required documents have been received in the Enrollment Services office, has taken the Accuplacer Exam (degree-seeking students) if required, has been issued a password and attended New Student Orientation. Students may not register online if … 1. Student is an Early Admit or Dual Credit student and is enrolled in high school. 2. Student is a new student or a new transfer student and has not completed the admission application process or has not attended a New Student Orientation. 3. Student is on academic suspension or probation, financial or admissions restriction or has a hold placed on his/her account. Contact the Enrollment Services office at (505) 566-3545 for specifics. Registration and financial holds must be cleared before registration. Online registration instructions Go to https://webadvisor.sanjuancollege.edu • Click on “log in” • Enter your username and password.(see page 50) Click the “Submit” button. • Select “Current Students” • Under “Registration,” select the “Register for Sections” option. • You can also add and drop courses after your initial registration using the same procedure (see page 1 for complete list of deadlines). Note: a student may not withdraw (drop all courses) from SJC online. Unable to attend after registering? If the student is unable to attend classes, it is the student’s responsibility to officially withdraw from the College. The student is responsible for all charges assessed to his/her account. (See page 5 for refund schedule.) Step 3 — Pay for Classes Payment deadline • 12 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2013 • Any student who has not paid in full by 12 p.m. on January 4 will be dropped from all classes for non-payment. This includes late start classes. • For registrations after Friday, January 4, tuition and fees are due at the time of registration and must be paid immediately. • Full payment means either 100% paid or enrolled in NelNet (e-Cashier) electronic student payment plan. Acceptable methods of payment • Credit/debit card - Visa, MasterCard or Discover • Cash, check or money order. Mailed payments must be received in the Business Office before 12 p.m. by the appropriate deadline. • NelNet (e-Cashier) payment plan is the approved payment plan for SJC. Go to sanjuancollege. edu/register to sign up. There is a $25 fee to NelNet (e-Cashier) upon enrollment. Students must reenroll for this plan each term. Restriction of services Students with delinquent accounts will be denied access to SJC services. These services include, but are not limited to: 1. Registration 2. Transcripts 3. Official withdrawal from classes 4. Library privileges 5. College assisted housing 6. Child and Family Development Center If payment arrangements are not made on a timely basis, the delinquent account will be placed with a collection agency. All costs will be calculated at the maximum rate permitted by New Mexico Statute. Returned checks Sometimes oversights occur and a bank will return a check as non-sufficient funds (NSF) for payment. As a rule, the SJC bank processes NSF checks twice for payment to the student’s account. The Business Office will mail a certified letter to the student’s current address notifying the student of the NSF check and fees with the conditions for repayment. Some of the conditions include: repayment by cash, money order or credit card (unless the NSF check was for cash). In addition, the student may be dropped from classes and denied College privileges and services. A $35 fee is assessed on all returned checks. 2013 san juan college spring schedule 3
