Students new to SJC start in the Advising and<br />

Counseling Center on main campus. New students<br />

are required to take the Accuplacer, meet with an<br />

advisor, and attend a new student orientation session<br />

prior to registering for classes. Transfer students<br />

should bring unoffi cial transcripts to their advisor<br />

appointment in lieu of taking the Accuplacer.<br />

Continuing students who have completed fewer than<br />

25 credit hours are required to meet with their<br />

advisor prior to registering for the next semester. All<br />

other students are encouraged to meet with an advisor<br />

each semester.<br />

Advisors are available to:<br />

• Assist you in planning your degree path<br />

• provide information about course content<br />

• Assist you in determining the sequence of<br />

your coursework<br />

• Assist you in defi ning and meeting your goals<br />

• Answer your questions as you navigate your<br />

way around college<br />

If you are interested in taking classes online, be sure<br />

to visit and explore sanjuancollege.edu/sjconline.<br />

questions you may have. It is recommended to consult<br />

with your advisor before registering for online classes.<br />

Bookstore<br />

The <strong>College</strong> Bookstore, located in room 1940, near the<br />

West Classroom Complex on the main Farmington<br />

campus, offers everything you will need for classes —<br />

new and used textbooks, class supplies, electronic<br />

equipment, <strong>San</strong> <strong>Juan</strong> <strong>College</strong> spirit wear and souvenirs<br />

and supplies for special courses, such as drafting, art,<br />

engineering, and others. Bring your class schedule when<br />

you visit the Bookstore so we can help you locate the<br />

right textbook. Or call (505) 566-3260.<br />

Information on required and recommended textbooks<br />

and supplemental material for courses can be found on<br />

the Internet course schedule at sanjuancollege.edu or<br />

at the bookstore website: https://bookstore.sanjuancollege.edu.<br />

You will be able to find both the International<br />

Standard Book Number (ISBN) or author, title, publisher<br />

and copyright date, as well as retail price.<br />

Charging<br />

The fi rst day to charge to your student account, if a<br />

sponsor is paying for your books and supplies, is always<br />

the monday before the fi rst day of instruction.<br />

Tax-free<br />

The bookstore offers tax free on textbooks when you<br />

show a current SJC student ID. To obtain an ID go to<br />

the Enrollment Services Offi ce.<br />
