second year at the end of August. She
will start treating clients this coming
semester. Tori attended Wine 3/9 in
Greenwich, Conn., and also had a
reunion with Tri Delta sisters Laura
Werkheiser ’09, Chelsea Michael,
Kelsey Boyd ’11, Ruth Dennehy ’12,
and Dafna Charles ’13 (see
photos online).
This past year, Elina Stelman
worked at an immigration law firm in
Connecticut. In June, she was
offered a position at publisher
Penguin Group in Manhattan.
Jason Siegel of Westchester, N.Y.,
is an energy engineer in Manhattan.
Jeromie Ballreich, who planned to
graduate with a master’s of health
economics from Johns Hopkins this
past summer, is considering additional
graduate studies. Jeromie would like to
work in health economics consulting,
research, or as a professor.
Anny Lopez attends Rutgers
School of Law in Newark, N.J. She
expects to graduate in May and focus
on criminal or immigration law.
Liz Graybill graduated in June
from Ohio University with a master’s
in geology. She moved to Scranton,
Pa., where she works for Kaufman
Engineering as a geologic consultant
to various mining operations.
Ezra Tischler participated in a
summer fellowship program with
Pres. Barack Obama’s reelection
campaign. This fall, he plans to
begin work toward a master’s in
environmental studies at University
of Pennsylvania.
Austin Kennedy joined the
second cohort of NYC Teaching
Residency for School Turn Around.
He is paired with a mentor teacher
for this school year and will become
a full-time math teacher in NYC
public schools next year. Austin is
working on a master’s in adolescent
education at St. John’s University.
Mathew Pezon was awarded a
Fulbright Scholarship to study
international management at IE
Business School in Madrid. The
10-month master’s program begins
in January. See Lafayette’s website for

his master’s degree at University of
Delaware, is working on his Ph.D.
Mickey Adelman, who is
finishing his master’s degree at
Cornell University, has been involved
with Engineers Without Borders in
Central America.
Jeff Shoemaker completed his
master’s degree at Stanford University
in 2011. He works in Los Angeles as
an earthquake engineer.
Simon Dilmanian started
a master’s program at Boston
College Carroll Graduate School
of Management. He is expected
to graduate next summer.
Samriddhi Malla was named
associate analyst at NERA Economic
Consulting.
Delta Delta Delta sister Sarah
Christy attended the Third Annual
Stars and Crescent Evening to benefit
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
in NYC. The NYC Tri Delta Alumnae
Chapter raised nearly $30,000 at the
event (see photo online).

Fulbright Scholarship
recipient Brian Carey
is conducting seismic assessment at
University of the West Indies’
Seismic Research Center in Trinidad
and Tobago. Brian also received a
three-year National Science
Foundation (NSF) Graduate
Research Fellowship in recognition
of his abilities, accomplishments, and
potential for contribution to the
engineering and science fields.
Mechanical engineering graduate
Alicia Clark was also awarded a NSF
Graduate Research Fellowship.
Ashley Juavinett was awarded a
Socrates Fellowship. The Socrates
Fellows Program is an NSF-funded
program that awards 12-month
fellowships to University of
California–San Diego doctoral
students and stipends for San Diegoarea
teachers to work together to
enhance the science classroom.
Ashley will help create curricula,
teach classes, and introduce high
school students to her research. She
is studying the visual system of mice
with Dr. Edward Callaway at Salk
Institute in La Jolla, Calif.
In August, Mike Handzo finished
a term of AmeriCorps VISTA service
with Lehigh Valley Community Land
Trust. This fall, he planned to begin
his master’s in political science through
Lehigh University Community
Fellows Program.
Carissa Jung is enrolled in a
master’s in professional studies
program in psychology at Teachers
College, Columbia University. She
expects to graduate in May.
Washcarina Martinez, who was
drawn to Rutgers School of Law by
its diverse population and reputation
for activism, is excelling at the
university. She plans to graduate in
May 2014, after which she would like
to concentrate on public interest law.
Kelly McNulty will participate
in a Fulbright English Teaching
Assistantship in South Africa from
January until November 2013. She
hopes to support a nonprofit that
works with youth, while teaching
English to high school and college
students. Last year, Kelly taught
kindergarten at Inspired Teaching
Public Charter School in Washington,
