601.3.7 The Race Secretary<br />

The Race Secretary is responsible for all secretarial work for the technical<br />

aspects of the competition and amongst others for the preparation of the<br />

draw. He ensures that the official results contain the information required<br />

by art. 617.3.4. He is responsible for the minutes of the technical officials,<br />

the Jury and team captains' meetings.<br />

He ensures that all forms for start, finish, timing, calculations, and gatejudging<br />

are well prepared, and handed over to the officials concerned in<br />

good order at the proper time.<br />

He receives official protests and gives them to those who are concerned.<br />

He facilitates the calculation of results by appropriate preparation and<br />

ensures that they are duplicated and published as quickly as possible<br />

after the completion of the competition.<br />

601.3.8 The Chief of Medical and Rescue Services<br />

The Chief of Medical and Rescue Services is responsible for organising<br />

adequate first aid and medical coverage during the official training periods<br />

and the actual competition.<br />

He must arrange an appropriate facility to which injured competitors<br />

should be taken and treated.<br />

He coordinates plans with the team doctors before the start of the official<br />

training or the start of any competition.<br />

During training and the races he must be in telephone or radio<br />

communication with his assistants. He must co-ordinate plans with the<br />

Chief of Race before the start of the official training, or start of any<br />

competition.<br />

A doctor, who should be a good skier, should be ready at the start to deal<br />

with any eventuality and must stay in contact with the Jury and the<br />

members of the rescue service. This task can be delegated to a team<br />

doctor. Details of the Medical Support Requirements are given in chapter<br />

1 of the FIS Medical Guide containing Medical Rules and Guidelines.<br />

601.3.9 Other officials within the Organising Committee (OC)<br />

The following officials may also be appointed:<br />

601.3.9.1 The Chief Steward<br />

The chief steward takes all measures to ensure that spectators are kept<br />

off the course. To this end sufficient personnel must be used. Attention<br />

should be paid to ensure sufficient space behind the barriers to permit<br />

circulation of spectators.<br />

601.3.9.2 The Chief of Course Equipment and Technical Equipment<br />

The Chief of Course Equipment is responsible for the provision of<br />

equipment and tools needed for the preparation and maintenance of the<br />

courses and the conduct of the race, where these duties have not been<br />

assigned to another official.<br />
