Ladysmith Lions
Since the induction of our new
President, Lion Steve Cockcroft
we have been kept extremely busy and
involved. Over the last month we have
raised funds for the Juana Maria Old
Age Home and Our local Morester
Childrens Home which was well attended
by our lions including and nice
to see a number of prospective lions
there as well. Currently we have 9
prospective members as this year our
drive is to grow our club back to where
we were two years ago.
We have also decided to market our
organization in line with International
President Jimmy Ross’ plea to promote
Lionism in our communities and
as a result we have placed an advert
about Lions in Our local newspaper
informing our community of our wonderful
organization.
We have also pledged R2000 toward
the diabetes bus as diabetes awareness
is serious and with so many people
not knowing their status, we can
make a difference for a relatively small
financial investment together with a
concerted effort.
This month also sees the anniversary
of our charter and we will be celebrating
36 years of involvement in Lionism,
not to mention the induction of 2 new
members on this auspicious occasion.

Port Shepstone Lions’

Durban South Lions
During the month of July we
hosted Exchange students and
took them to both CROW and Stainbank
in the Durban South area.
Members ran the tea garden at the
CCMC show and together with Durban
Central and Durban North
manned the gates at the Virginia airshow.

Strange but these things do happen
There was a case in a Hospital's ICU, where patients always
died in the same bed, every Sunday morning at 11am -
regardless of their medical condition. This puzzled the doctors
and some even thought that particular bed was the work of the
Devil... as to why the deaths at 11am on Sunday mornings? A
world-wide team of experts were constituted and they decided
to go down to the ward to investigate the cause of the incidents.
So on the next Sunday morning, a few minutes before
11, all doctors and nurses nervously waited outside the ward to see for themselves
what the terrible phenomenon was all about. Some were holding wooden crosses,
prayer books and other holy objects to ward off any evil spirits... Just then the
clock struck 11 and...............
In walked Sipho Tshabalala (the part-time Sunday cleaner). He entered the ward
and unplugged the life support system so that he could use the vacuum cleaner.
