6. Not saving images as PNGs, GIFs, or JPGs. As previously mentioned, the<br />

three main image file formats used with the Internet today are PNGs, GIFs,<br />

<strong>and</strong> JPGs. However, a <strong>Web</strong> page can also use BMP files, <strong>and</strong> the browser<br />

will display them. The header image of Figure 7.26 was saved as a BMP. It is<br />

159KB, but if it had been saved as a GIF, it could have been saved at<br />

around 14KB.<br />

Figure 7.37 is a photo saved as a JPG that is 4KB, while the same image<br />

saved as a BMP file (Figure 7.38) is 166KB.<br />
