Pilot—Specialist Service Officer Another way of becom<strong>in</strong>g a pilot <strong>in</strong> the Army Aviation Corps is as a Specialist Service Officer (SSO). The SSO scheme generates short-term pilot appo<strong>in</strong>tments <strong>to</strong> operate the Army’s rapidly grow<strong>in</strong>g fleet of helicopters <strong>an</strong>d fixed-w<strong>in</strong>g aircraft. As a Public Relations Officer, you’ll need <strong>to</strong> be skilled <strong>in</strong> <strong>an</strong>swer<strong>in</strong>g media enquiries, issu<strong>in</strong>g media releases, m<strong>an</strong>ag<strong>in</strong>g PR pho<strong>to</strong>graphers <strong>an</strong>d respond<strong>in</strong>g pos<strong>it</strong>ively <strong>to</strong> public<strong>it</strong>y. Dur<strong>in</strong>g operations, you’ll gather material <strong>in</strong> the field <strong>an</strong>d liaise w<strong>it</strong>h media <strong>in</strong> the area of operations <strong>to</strong> help keep the public <strong>in</strong>formed. Science Officer (PATHOLOGIST) As a Science Officer, you’ll be responsible for aid<strong>in</strong>g medical pract<strong>it</strong>ioners <strong>in</strong> the diagnosis, mon<strong>it</strong>or<strong>in</strong>g <strong>an</strong>d prevention of disease through the <strong>an</strong>alysis of biological specimens. Tr<strong>an</strong>sport Corps Officer W<strong>it</strong>h the <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g sophistication of tr<strong>an</strong>sport logistics, the Royal Australi<strong>an</strong> Corps of Tr<strong>an</strong>sport (RACT) has a grow<strong>in</strong>g need for officers <strong>to</strong> m<strong>an</strong>age <strong>it</strong>s fleet of vehicles <strong>an</strong>d drivers as well as <strong>it</strong>s comput<strong>in</strong>g <strong>an</strong>d systems m<strong>an</strong>agement.
