Looking toward its 100th birthday in 2014 (an accomplishment
few if any American dance training centers can
boast), Peabody Dance, the dance department of the
Peabody Preparatory, continues in its 98th year to keep in
step with the progression of American dance into the 21st
century. Led by Artistic Director Carol Bartlett since 1988,
with dance visionary Barbara Weisberger, artistic advisor
since 2001, Peabody Dance has substantially invigorated
its curriculum and greatly enhanced its reputation.
In all cases, the heart of Peabody Dance’s philosophy
is the expectation that all students, whether they are
professional aspirants or children and mature adults
exploring the joys of dancing, will have the opportunity
to reach their own desired level of achievement. In return,
an internationally respected faculty and artistic staff are
dedicated to meeting the needs of their students on an
individual basis and to offering them exemplary training,
inspiration and encouragement.
Program Options
The exceptional Peabody Summer Dance 2012 programs
offer a full range of instruction, taught by Peabody Dance’s
outstanding faculty and notable guest artists. They are
designed to accommodate all students who wish to
continue their dance training with concentrated study —
from complete beginners to professional-level aspirants —
and the extraordinary diversity of training option ranges
from classes for young children to a Refresher Intensive for
students in the highest levels.
• The Five-Week Intensive – June 18-July 20: full-day
training for students ages 7 to young adult.
• The Young Children’s Program – June 18-July 28:
classes for students ages 3-6.
• All-Boys Classes – June 18-July 28: for male students
students.
