The last remaining working mill in Jersey, the building dates<br />

from the 18th century and was restored in 1978 by The<br />

Well-preserved German Naval Command Bunker that<br />

controlled the coastal artillery Batterie Lothringen from<br />

1944-45. On two floors, this impressive bunker contains<br />

numerous displays and exhibits. Your visit also includes<br />

an 11 minute DVD guided tour of the batterie, much of<br />

which has now been excavated and made accessible to<br />

Grosnez Castle<br />

This spectacularly located headland ruin is thought to<br />

date from the 14th century. To the south is Le Pinacle, a<br />

200ft (61m) high rock, which featured as an object of<br />

worship and a ceremonial site for thousands of years.<br />

La Corbière Lighthouse<br />

This lighthouse, situated on the south-west corner<br />

of the island, was the first concrete lighthouse in the<br />

British Isles. Visit Jersey Tourism and find out more about<br />

guided walks that take you inside this special landmark.<br />

Le Don Hilton, or La Caumine à Marie Best as it is also<br />

known, is an old guard house beside the beach in St<br />

Ouen’s Bay. It is also called the “white cottage” due to<br />

its distinctive whitewashed walls and it was used as a<br />

landmark for sailors. Surrounded by thrift in spring and<br />

sea lavender in summer, this fabulous site can be hired<br />

from the National Trust for Jersey on a day basis.<br />

La Pouquelaye de Faldouet<br />

Neolithic Passage Grave / Dolmen<br />

A magnificent Neolithic dolmen with a 5m long passage<br />

leading into a large circular chamber beyond which is a<br />

large capstoned chamber with smaller side chambers.<br />

Le Moulin de Tesson (Tesson Mill)<br />

St Peter’s Valley<br />

The lowest of the group of watermills located along St<br />

Peter’s Valley, the mill has undergone important renovation<br />

work by the National Trust for Jersey. Whilst not open to<br />

the public as yet it is still possible to enjoy the site’s settings<br />

and discover delightful walks in the surrounding woodlands.<br />

St Aubin’s Fort<br />

St Aubin’s Bay, St Brelade<br />

Built in the 1540s, St Aubin’s Fort pre-dates Elizabeth<br />

Castle and together they provided protection to the bay<br />

and the harbour at St Aubin. Explore the fort by walking<br />

across the wet sand at low tide.<br />

St Brelade’s Church and<br />

Fisherman’s Chapel<br />

Overlooking St Brelade’s Bay, the nave and chancel date<br />

from Norman times. The adjacent Fisherman’s Chapel is<br />

thought to have been built in the 12th century and has<br />

some good 14th and 15th century murals.<br />

St Helier Church<br />

Named after the town’s patron saint, a hermit who lived<br />

on the rocky islet on which Elizabeth Castle now stands.<br />

Parts of the church date from the 11th century. The<br />

gallant Major Peirson, who defeated the French when<br />

they last invaded in 1781, is buried here.<br />

St Matthew’s Glass Church<br />

St Lawrence, JE3 1LN<br />

The glass work including the font, altar rail, cross and<br />

pillars, was created by René Lalique of Paris and is<br />

considered to be amongst his greatest achievements.<br />

St Saviour’s Church<br />

Even compared to today’s superstars, the life of Lillie<br />

Langtry was extraordinary. She was born in the Rectory,<br />

twice married in the Church and rests in the churchyard.<br />

The Society has a large collection of indexes for the family<br />

historian. These cover censuses, records of baptisms,<br />

marriages and deaths and other items. These can be<br />

accessed at Jersey Archive on a Tuesday, Wednesday and<br />

Thursday from 09:00 to 17:00. Meetings are held on the<br />

last Monday of the month at the members’ room of the<br />

Societe Jersiaise starting at 20:00.<br />

Channel Island Occupation Society<br />

This dedicated volunteer organisation ensures that<br />

key sites from Jersey’s Occupation are open to the<br />

public. The Command Bunker and Observation Tower at<br />

Noirmont Point are two excellent examples. Go online for<br />
