History comes alive at<br />

La Hougue Bie<br />

Unlock the secrets at La Hougue Bie, a<br />

medieval chapel tranquilly positioned on a<br />

prehistoric mound and dolmen. Considered to<br />

be one of the finest dolmen in Europe, stand<br />

inside the chamber itself to find the heart of<br />

this ancient place of worship. Explore the<br />

German command bunker built during the<br />

German Occupation and unearth<br />

treasures in the geology and<br />

archaeology museum.<br />

Join the gladiatorial contest as one of the best<br />

Roman re-enactment groups<br />

comes to conquer Jersey. The<br />

Vicus, will be transforming<br />

La Hougue Bie into a<br />

Roman camp. Gladiators<br />

will battle it out and<br />

warriors will display their<br />

fighting skills, while camp<br />

followers illustrate the more<br />

sedate activities of<br />

calligraphy and mosaic<br />

making.<br />

Neolithic demonstrations and handling sessions<br />

10am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm<br />

Visit our Neolithic house at La Hougue Bie and<br />

discover some of the activities that the Neolithic<br />

people might have done. Have a go at making a clay<br />

pot or a shell necklace and find out how the<br />

Neolithic house is made. There will also be a chance<br />

to view and handle some of the archaeology objects<br />

in the Jersey Heritage collection.<br />
