History comes alive at
La Hougue Bie
Unlock the secrets at La Hougue Bie, a
medieval chapel tranquilly positioned on a
prehistoric mound and dolmen. Considered to
be one of the finest dolmen in Europe, stand
inside the chamber itself to find the heart of
this ancient place of worship. Explore the
German command bunker built during the
German Occupation and unearth
treasures in the geology and
archaeology museum.

the shop on site.

bones. Discover more about dinosaurs
and fossils and what they tell you
about history. Take the Dinosaur
trail and have a go at making

Prepare for Roman invasion
Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 August
10am to 4pm
Join the gladiatorial contest as one of the best
Roman re-enactment groups
comes to conquer Jersey. The
Vicus, will be transforming
La Hougue Bie into a
Roman camp. Gladiators
will battle it out and
warriors will display their
fighting skills, while camp
followers illustrate the more
sedate activities of
calligraphy and mosaic
making.

Neolithic demonstrations and handling sessions
10am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm
Visit our Neolithic house at La Hougue Bie and
discover some of the activities that the Neolithic
people might have done. Have a go at making a clay
pot or a shell necklace and find out how the
Neolithic house is made. There will also be a chance
to view and handle some of the archaeology objects
in the Jersey Heritage collection.
