Ginger<br />

Ginger has grown in popularity in The Netherl<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> is more<br />

used in ready-to-use mixtures by the industrial sector (butchery,<br />

bakery <strong>and</strong> food processors) <strong>and</strong> by grinders (spice mixtures for<br />

Indian, Indonesian <strong>and</strong> Chinese dishes).<br />

Between 1995 <strong>and</strong> 1997 imports increased by 32 per cent to a total<br />

volume of 4,759 tonnes, with a value of ECU 5.7 million. Costa<br />

Rica became the largest supplying country instead of Brazil. Other<br />
