King’s College Hospital in London is one of<br />

<strong>Skanska</strong>’s first major PFI projects. In <strong>2002</strong>, <strong>Skanska</strong><br />

delivered part of the first phase, the women’s clinic,<br />

two months ahead of schedule. When the project is<br />

completed in 2004, the hospital’s capacity will have<br />

increased by over 21,000 patients a year.<br />

<strong>Skanska</strong> BOT<br />

Operations specialize in developing<br />

and investing in privately financed<br />

infrastructure projects, in cooperation<br />

with <strong>Skanska</strong>’s construction units. <strong>Skanska</strong><br />

BOT is currently involved in projects in<br />

Brazil, Chile, Finland, Great Britain and<br />

Mozambique.<br />

During the autumn of <strong>2002</strong>, <strong>Skanska</strong><br />

UK landed its largest-ever BOT/PFI project<br />

when it received the assignment to build<br />

and operate Coventry Hospital, a contract<br />

worth SEK 6.9 billion over a 35-year<br />

period. <strong>Skanska</strong> UK is one of the largest<br />

participants in the British PFI market, with<br />

a market share of about 25 percent in the<br />

hospital sector.<br />

At year-end <strong>2002</strong>, <strong>Skanska</strong> had a total<br />

of six BOT projects in the construction<br />

phase and three in operation. At year-end,<br />

subordinated receivables totaled about<br />

SEK 1.0 billion. <strong>Skanska</strong>’s remaining investment<br />

obligations amount to about SEK 1.4<br />

billion.<br />

During <strong>2002</strong>, no BOT projects were<br />

divested, compared to 2001 when projects<br />

were divested with a capital gain of SEK 39 M.<br />
