Also at the final Youth Film Forum<br />
session, members viewed "The Andromeda<br />
Strain." then were led in discussion of the<br />
film by Prof. Bill Hays of Tulsa University.<br />
I he forum is composed of representatives<br />
from 20 Tulsa high schools, Tulsa University,<br />
Oral Roberts University and Tulsa<br />
Junior College who meet once a month<br />
during the school term to view a new film<br />
and discuss it under Hays' leadership.<br />
OKLAHOMA CITY<br />
There are other Video Independent construction<br />
or remodeling projects in the<br />
works in addition to those we reported last<br />
week in the Southwest section. In Enid, a<br />
new twin auditorium theatre on the west<br />
side of town is the project occupying the<br />
attention of Video president Kenneth C.<br />
Blackledge and Video city manager J. Paul<br />
Shipley. Bids were to be let this month, after<br />
the land acquisition was firmed and the<br />
architectural<br />
plans were completed.<br />
A twin indoor theatre also is in the works<br />
for the circuit in Las Cruces, N.M., with the<br />
twin to be constructed on the corner of the<br />
Fiesta Twin Drive-In. To make room on the<br />
drive-in property for the indoor duo. Video<br />
has put a new. all-steel screen tower (without<br />
interruption of regular programs) for the<br />
drive-in customers. Work in Las Cruces is<br />
proceeding under district supervisor Paul E.<br />
Cornwell and city manager Ollie Wilhelm.<br />
Gary Schvenchonis Hurt<br />

SAN ANTONIO—Two bandits, one of<br />
them armed with a revolver, robbed the<br />
Towne Twin Drive-in Saturday (22) night,<br />
struck a teenage attendant on the head and<br />
made off with $150 in cash.<br />
John Menchaca, an off-duty patrolman,<br />
who was working in the theatre's concession<br />
stand, told police that at about 10:15 p.m.<br />
someone told him the ticket booth had been<br />
robbed.<br />
He went to the booth and found Gary<br />
Schvenchonis lying on the ground. Menchaca<br />
said he was informed that two men, ages<br />
20 to 25 years old. had told the attendant<br />

Ft. Sam Houston Theatre<br />
To Cost About $386,333<br />
SAN ANTONIO—A 500 seat. $386,333<br />
theatre complete with lobby, stage and dressing<br />
rooms will be constructed at Ft. Sam<br />
Houston, local army base.<br />
The second such structure planned for the<br />
reservation, the proposed theatre is to be<br />
financed by profits of the Army and Air<br />
Force Motion Picture Service.<br />
The theatre plans were announced by<br />
C. R. lkerman. chief of the construction<br />
contracts inspection section at the military<br />
complex.<br />
Plans for the theatre include landscaped<br />
grounds and a paved parking area. The<br />
completion date on the project is February<br />
1972.<br />
Fort Sam's present theatre, with 1.207<br />
seating capacity, was built in 1935.<br />
William Wyler Is Recipient<br />

Films, Projectors Seized<br />
At SA Queen Arts Theatre<br />
SAN"ANTONIO— Members of the San<br />
Antonio police vice squad hit the Queen<br />
Twin Arts Theatre Friday (21) afternoon<br />
and confiscated two 16mm projectors, three<br />
rolls of 16mm films, one eight-track tape<br />
player, a 16mm film splicer and several<br />
other items.<br />
The feature film 'The Mad Pieman" and<br />
two reels of short subjects were the films<br />
confiscated.<br />
An advisory hearing was held about 6<br />
p.m. Friday before justice of the peace Mike<br />
Hernandez jr., who ruled the films were<br />
obscene and ordered them and the equipment<br />
held for further prosecution in a<br />
county court-at-law.<br />
Those arrested at the theatre were Mike<br />
Lucio and Pedro Saenz Mclende/. both<br />
charged with the possession and exhibition<br />
of obscene material. Each was placed in jail<br />
in lieu of $5,000 bond.<br />
Detectives spent pari of a daj viewing the<br />
film prior to obtaining the warrants. Names<br />
and addresses of all patrons in the theatre<br />
were recorded by arresting officers for use<br />
at a later date as witnesses.<br />

advertising publicity department.<br />
