Title: student records<br />

Graduation Requirements<br />

Prior <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> semester <strong>the</strong> student intends <strong>to</strong> graduate, he or she must:<br />

• Be officially admitted <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> program or <strong>the</strong>ir major,<br />

• Obtain and complete an application for graduation,<br />

• Submit <strong>the</strong> completed form <strong>to</strong> a counselor, program direc<strong>to</strong>r, or Chief Academic Officer<br />

for re<strong>view</strong>.<br />

• If you ever received a student loan you must complete exit counseling at<br />

www.studentloans.gov.<br />

Note: The signature of <strong>the</strong> counselor, program direc<strong>to</strong>r, or Chief Academic Officer indicates that <strong>the</strong>y have re<strong>view</strong>ed <strong>the</strong><br />

graduation requirements with <strong>the</strong> student.<br />

It is <strong>the</strong> student’s responsibility <strong>to</strong> coordinate all degree or certificate requirements for completion with<br />

<strong>the</strong> appropriate counselor, advisor, or academic department. If <strong>the</strong> student does not complete <strong>the</strong><br />

graduation requirements outlined in <strong>the</strong> semester requested on <strong>the</strong> application, he or she must file<br />

ano<strong>the</strong>r application in a subsequent semester and pay a new graduation application fee.<br />

The District Records Office will send a letter <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> student acknowledging receipt of <strong>the</strong> application<br />

for graduation and indicating that <strong>the</strong> student has been placed on <strong>the</strong> roster for <strong>the</strong> next graduation<br />

ceremony.<br />

The student will receive a certificate or degree by mail or <strong>the</strong> student may submit a request <strong>to</strong> obtain<br />

<strong>the</strong> certificate or diploma on <strong>the</strong> campus after <strong>the</strong> semester in which all requirements were fulfilled has<br />

ended. Indication of <strong>the</strong> degree or certificate awarded will be reflected on <strong>the</strong> <strong>College</strong> transcript when it<br />

has been determined that all requirements have been satisfied. A replacement diploma will be provided<br />

for a fee.<br />

Note: All students readmitted <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>College</strong> after missing four or more regular semesters will be responsible for <strong>the</strong><br />

curricula and regulations published in <strong>the</strong> current catalog and o<strong>the</strong>r official publications which are in effect at <strong>the</strong><br />

time of <strong>the</strong>ir readmission. In certain cases, dates of program admission may take precedent over dates of <strong>College</strong><br />

admission for <strong>the</strong> purpose of meeting program requirements for graduation.<br />

Honors<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s completing 12 or more college-level credit hours during <strong>the</strong> Fall or Spring semesters with a<br />

minimum grade point average of 3.5 are eligible <strong>to</strong> be recognized by <strong>the</strong> President of <strong>the</strong>ir campus.<br />

These students may also be eligible for membership in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.<br />

Graduation With Honors<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s who complete degree requirements with exceptionally high scholastic averages are eligible<br />

<strong>to</strong> receive degrees with honors. Those who have earned a grade point average of 3.75-4.00 are<br />

eligible <strong>to</strong> be graduated Summa Cum Laude; a grade point average of 3:50-3.74, Magna Cum Laude;<br />

a grade point average of 3.25-3.49 Cum Laude. In computing <strong>the</strong> grade point average, all courses<br />

taken at <strong>Wayne</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> District are considered.<br />
