Emerson’s main entrance is named for Teresa E. DiGiovanni
The hospital’s main entrance is being renovated
to modernize the area and provide a more welcoming
feel, thanks to a significant donation
from the DiGiovanni family of Concord. The
main entrance will be named for Teresa E.
DiGiovanni (shown at left with her husband,
Guy), who passed away in November 2011. The donation was made in gratitude
for the care that Mrs. DiGiovanni and other family members have received
at Emerson, as well as to honor the leadership of Christine Schuster,
president and CEO. Mrs. DiGiovanni’s son, James DiGiovanni, is a member
of the hospital’s Board of Directors.
Centennial wall display recently unveiled
In May, a permanent wall display about
Emerson’s history was installed in the
third-floor corridor of the John Cuming
Building. The display, which features
several vintage photographs, marks the hospital’s centennial and includes a
timeline of historical milestones, including clinical programs and progress
on the hospital campus. It also reflects the enduring bond between Emerson
and the community, seen through its volunteers, the Emerson Hospital
Auxiliary and the tradition of philanthropy. The hospital’s growing presence
throughout the service area is featured through the establishment of hospital-affiliated
satellites. Stop by to see the display!
New art exhibition opens at Emerson Medical at Sudbury
Emerson’s ongoing commitment to displaying
the work of talented local artists continues this
spring with an exhibition of new work by Liza
Carter at Emerson Medical at Sudbury, located
at 490 Boston Post Road (Route 20 in Chiswick
Park). Ms. Carter, a Concord resident, is showing
watercolors and nature photography. She has exhibited throughout the
region, including at Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts in Concord. The
exhibition runs from May through October.
Safe driving assessment is available
Adults who have undergone a change in health
status may need to be evaluated before driving
again. The clinical driver assessment program
includes an evaluation by a certified occupational
therapist (fee is $300) and, for those who
pass the evaluation, an on-road test conducted by a professional driving instructor
or certified driver rehabilitation specialist (fee is $200). A physician
