<strong>Emerson</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong> Auxiliary Hosts 12th Annual<br />
5K Run ~Walk & Family Funday for Cancer on June 2<br />
The <strong>Emerson</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong> Auxiliary will hold its 12th annual 5K Run~Walk & Family Funday for Cancer on<br />
Saturday, June 2, at the Thoreau Club, 275 Forest Ridge Road in Concord.<br />
The event is sponsored by Concord Mews, Thoreau Club and Marx Running & Fitness Center. Activities<br />
will include a barbeque, tot trot for ages 5 and under, tie-dye T-shirt-making, inflatable obstacle<br />
course, volleyball, badminton and recreational swimming. Registration begins at 8:30 am. The onemile<br />
kids’ fun run (for ages 5-12) leaves at 9:15 am, and the 5K begins at 10:00 am.<br />
“This is a fun-filled, multi-generational event that keeps growing in participation, business partnerships<br />
and donations from the community,” said Karen Maines, president of the <strong>Emerson</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong><br />
Auxiliary. Last year’s event attracted nearly 450 participants and raised a record $42,000.<br />
Funds raised from the 5K Run~Walk and Family Funday for Cancer will support cancer services at<br />
<strong>Emerson</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>. Earlier this year, the longstanding relationship in cancer care between <strong>Emerson</strong><br />
and Massachusetts General <strong>Hospital</strong> expanded to include a collaboration with medical oncology<br />
(see story on page 4).<br />
To register for the 5K Run~Walk & Family Funday for Cancer, visit www.firstgiving.com/<strong>Emerson</strong><br />
<strong>Hospital</strong>Auxiliary/5krunwalk. Entry fees, which include the post-race barbecue, are $25 for adults<br />
until May 30 and $30 until the day of the event, and $12 for the kids’ fun run. To volunteer at the<br />
