As part of Stanwell School’s Transition arrangements,
the ICT department played host to pupils
from Albert, Sully and Evenlode Primary Schools
earlier in the term. The aim of the project is to
enable pupils in year 6 to use the ICT Departments
software in preparation for when pupils
come to Stanwell in September 2011. Following
on from the transition activities, parents were able
to see the work that their children had produced
during the school Open Day. Open Evening was
again a big success, a big thank you to all pupils
who supported the department. The ICT department
had its regular Cyber Cafe; delicious cakes
were baked this time by Isabel Grafton 7R and
Abby Mills 7K, thank you girls! Key Stage 4 pupils,
Robert Turton 9M, Kieran Gibbs 9O, Kyle
Strenstrom 9R, Zed Strong 9K and Corrie
Wolfenden 10E, helped organise and advertise
the Games Zone. This allowed parents and Year
6 pupils to experience both playing games, with
the Nintendo Wii, and game creation, using the
latest Mission Maker software.
At KS3 we have been developing pupils web
design and databases skills and many pupils
started to create their own online blog which will act
as a project diary and they are enjoying updating this
at the end of each lesson. Pupils are already achieving
a very high standard of work in lessons and this is
a very pleasing start to the course. With coursework
deadlines looming for year 11 pupils ,they have been
working hard to complete their DIDA Unit 1 and Unit 3
coursework. Although homework clubs have been
quiet this term, they have been very beneficial to
those who have attended, being able to take full advantage
of the focused support from teachers. Some
pupils have worked exceptionally well in their own
time, notably Joe Keenan, Callum Masters, Alexander
Williams, Ben Ware and Rachel Thompson.

Key Stage 4 pupils in year 10 have produced
some excellent work this term, particularly Riyad
Auckbarally, Nicholas Pimlott, Chelsea Mace
and Sian Moss . Pupils have very successfully
