Welsh homework club for KS4 is on a<br />

Monday to offer additional support <strong>and</strong> help<br />

to pupils.<br />

Welsh club for KS3 is on a Wednesday in<br />

G19. Pupils can come to have extra support<br />

<strong>and</strong> help with homework or just to enjoy fun<br />

activities<br />

Many pupils in Year 7 have shown great<br />

promise already! Da iawn Robyn Iredale,<br />

Jack Powell, Sofia Nardone, Chloe Poole<br />

<strong>and</strong> Alice Bright. A special mention is also<br />

deserved by Tristan Goodway-Sims, Izaak<br />

Lee, Poppy Wilde, Bethan Davies, Claire<br />

Halligan <strong>and</strong> Jasmine Rahman, who have<br />

also been working very hard. Olivia North,<br />

Isabel Grafton, Amy Hickery <strong>and</strong> Ray<br />

V<strong>and</strong>yck, Joseph Short <strong>and</strong> William<br />

Marsh <strong>and</strong> Jay Ruckley have worked<br />

extremely hard, da iawn! Rowena Cameron,<br />

Megan Jones, Chloe Parselle, Daisy<br />

Williams <strong>and</strong> Alice Durham all scored<br />

100% in their recent speaking exam, da<br />

iawn!<br />

Year 8 pupils have been studying the topic<br />

of holidays <strong>and</strong> have recently completed<br />

their speaking tests. Callum O’Neill, Sol<br />

Khan, Harry Griffiths Ben Rose , Taylor<br />

Alex<strong>and</strong>er <strong>and</strong> Kieran McGavin all<br />

performed particularly well, ffantasteg!<br />

Rhodri Guerrier, Max Shepherd <strong>and</strong> Peter<br />

Tutill performed an interesting <strong>and</strong> well<br />

prepared conversation, da iawn!<br />

Year 9 have studied the local area this term<br />

<strong>and</strong> can now confidently describe the Vale<br />

of Glamorgan in Welsh! Matt Holder, Owen<br />

Rees, Georgia Chaffey ,Chloe Fletcher,<br />

Emily Thomas, Megan Wookey, <strong>and</strong><br />

Rebecca Te Water Naude prepared very<br />

detailed <strong>and</strong> interesting conversations. Tim<br />

Binding, Isaac Ridgley, Aidan Singh,<br />

Joel Ringer <strong>and</strong> Cassie Richards also<br />

performed exceptionally well.<br />

Year 10 pupils have responded very<br />

favourably to the new GCSE course, their<br />

speaking exams have shown great promise<br />

<strong>and</strong> a very mature attitude towards the<br />

dem<strong>and</strong>s of the course. Jack Hayward,<br />

Rory Hay <strong>and</strong> Adam Rees spoke very well<br />

as individuals <strong>and</strong> as part of a group in their<br />

test about holidays in Wales. Lucy Berry<br />

<strong>and</strong> Stephanie Price also performed well.<br />

Erin Murray <strong>and</strong> Natasha Hole have also<br />

shown great effort <strong>and</strong> determination in<br />

preparation for the speaking test.<br />

In March a group of Year 11 will be sitting<br />

their first external speaking exams <strong>and</strong> will<br />

be performing role-plays <strong>and</strong> giving<br />

presentations about their favourite topics,<br />

pob lwc! The Welsh department staff are<br />

available at all times to support pupils <strong>and</strong><br />

help them prepare for these exams.<br />

Of course the Eisteddfodau will be taking<br />

place in early March too, lower school<br />

pupils should ask their subject teachers for<br />

details about homework <strong>and</strong> stage<br />

competitions in order to earn points for their<br />

houses. In<br />

Welsh lessons<br />

pupils are<br />

rewarded for<br />

effort, good<br />

work <strong>and</strong> good<br />

behaviour with raffle tickets which are then<br />

entered into regular draws. Recent winners<br />

are Erin Louise Gwynne, George<br />

Prickett, Rebecca Johnson, Hannah<br />

Lewis, Hannah Williams, Ffion Wood,<br />

Liam Fisher, Elizabeth Trigg <strong>and</strong> Nicole<br />

Morrick.<br />
