Year 8<br />

Miss L Jenkins <strong>and</strong> Mr A. Meddins<br />

This has been an active term for Year 8. All<br />

pupils have embarked enthusiastically on the<br />

electronic version of the Real Game. This is<br />

an effective <strong>and</strong> fun way of allowing pupils a<br />

glimpse of what it is like living <strong>and</strong> working as<br />

an adult. Mr Pritchard from Careers Wales<br />

has also been helping to prepare our pupils<br />

for their option choices later on this year.<br />

Alongside this, assemblies have taken place<br />

<strong>and</strong> recognition has been given to World<br />

events, activities <strong>and</strong> the precepts of the<br />

week, including The Real Game, 9-11,<br />

Respect, Values, Remembrance <strong>and</strong> Antibullying<br />

Week. The ‘Is it’ Drama Company<br />

delivered a powerful production <strong>and</strong><br />

discussion on bullying. Ms. Emyr from the<br />

Rotary Club spoke about polio <strong>and</strong> the<br />

planting a crocus campaign. PC Mudie gave<br />

several informative presentations on<br />

Halloween, fireworks <strong>and</strong> gangs. She has<br />

also started her lessons on Drug Awareness.<br />

This year our <strong>School</strong> Council<br />

Representatives are Emma Davies <strong>and</strong><br />

Harry Jowett.<br />

Each form has elected representatives for<br />

the Year 8 Council. They are as follows:<br />

8T- Emma Llewellyn <strong>and</strong> Rhys Knight<br />

8E- Tesni Chinn <strong>and</strong> Thomas Keenan<br />

8A- Kelsey Murray <strong>and</strong> Matthew Jones<br />

8M- Milly Williams <strong>and</strong> Rhys Fford<br />

8X- Emma Davies <strong>and</strong> Harry Jowett<br />

8W- Sian Smith <strong>and</strong> Caleb Docking<br />

8O- Sally Jones <strong>and</strong> Calum O’Neill<br />

8R- Harriet Alderman <strong>and</strong> William Brown<br />

8K- Elinor Mahoney <strong>and</strong> Edward Herbert<br />

8L- Seren James <strong>and</strong> Max Scott<br />

This year our Eco-<strong>School</strong> Representatives<br />

are Lucy Bond <strong>and</strong> Harvey Atkins. Ryan<br />

Johns <strong>and</strong> Michael Regan are our Food &<br />

Fitness Representatives.<br />

Jacob Heaton-Jones, James Senior,<br />

Sarah Brabham, Georgia Atkinson<br />

competed in the All Wales <strong>School</strong>s<br />

Liaison Police Quiz recently. The team<br />

came 4 th but the final scores were very<br />

close!<br />

8T<br />

A busy term for 8T, with many getting<br />

involved in sporting activities. Shanice<br />

Donovan plays football for Dinas<br />

Powys under 14 <strong>and</strong> also represents<br />

the girls’ football team at school.<br />

Emma Llywellyn competed in a karate<br />

competition in Wrexham <strong>and</strong> won 6-0!<br />

Benjamin Tanner plays football for<br />

Dinas Powys. Samuel White plays<br />

rugby for Penarth <strong>and</strong> football for Sully<br />

A. Annabel Richards competed in a<br />

recent tennis tournament, representing<br />

Windsor Tennis club <strong>and</strong> winning 4<br />

trophies. Verity Tucker has been<br />

asked to dance in an upcoming show in<br />

the Paget rooms. Hannah Sood has<br />

recently performed at the Paget Rooms<br />

with the Jeff Guppy <strong>School</strong> of Musical<br />

Theatre <strong>and</strong> she has also acted in the<br />

Wizard of Oz in the New Theatre in<br />

Cardiff.<br />

8E<br />

Daniel Watts has represented East<br />

Wales at rugby <strong>and</strong> is a member of the<br />

Penarth rugby team. He also plays<br />

football for Cardiff City <strong>and</strong> Dinas<br />

Powys. Matthew Bennett plays<br />

football <strong>and</strong> dodge ball for the school.<br />

He also plays football for Sully A team<br />

<strong>and</strong> the Vale of Glamorgan. Isaac<br />

Freeman is also a footballer <strong>and</strong> plays<br />

for Cardiff. Samuel Jennings is a<br />

member of the school’s rugby <strong>and</strong><br />

football teams. Congratulations to<br />
