<strong>How</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>upgrade</strong> <strong>AR</strong>-<strong>7284</strong> <strong>firmware</strong><br />

Introduction:<br />

Firmware is a kind of mechine code that is embedded in the router <strong>to</strong><br />

make it operate normally. The <strong>firmware</strong> can be <strong>upgrade</strong>d using a web<br />

browser (Windows IE, Firefox, Safari etc.) <strong>Edimax</strong> will publish the latest<br />

<strong>firmware</strong> in the web site periodically. It’s suggested not <strong>to</strong> conduct<br />

<strong>firmware</strong> <strong>upgrade</strong> unless there is a severe problem in the current <strong>firmware</strong><br />

of the router.<br />

Step by Step:<br />

Step 1 : Save the <strong>firmware</strong> file sent by <strong>Edimax</strong> Service or downloaded from<br />

<strong>Edimax</strong> web site on the Desk<strong>to</strong>p of your PC.<br />

Step 2 : Log on <strong>to</strong> the router’s management web page at http://192.168.2.1,<br />

select admin user , and enter password. By default, the user name<br />

is “ admin “ ; while password is ” 1234 “. If the password was<br />

changed, and forgetten, please reset the router for recovering the<br />

password.


Step 3 : Click “Browse ” but<strong>to</strong>n <strong>to</strong> search that <strong>firmware</strong> file.<br />

Step 4 : Click the <strong>firmware</strong> file in the Desk<strong>to</strong>p and click “Open”.<br />

Step5 : Click “Upgrade Firmware”.<br />

Firmware <strong>upgrade</strong> steps are finished. Please wait for about 2 minute. The<br />

router will reboot itself au<strong>to</strong>matically.<br />

Warning: Not <strong>to</strong> power off or disconnect the router ; otherwise the router<br />

may be faulty.<br />

It’s suggested <strong>to</strong> reset the router by holding the reset but<strong>to</strong>n of the rear<br />

panel for 20 seconds with the power on after <strong>firmware</strong> upgarde.
