The P&C Association at Brisbane State High School operates both the Vulture Street & Merivale Street
Canteens. The Canteens provide a wide variety of healthy food at very reasonable prices as you can see on
the attached Menu. The volume of ‘business’ through the Canteens enables them to keep prices low and
operate with a surplus each year (Approximately $80 000 in 2009).
In recent years P&C funds have provided shade structures on the Vulture Street Campus, fit-out of the new
Performing Arts Complex and construction of the new Canteen on the Vulture Street Campus. P&C funds
also employ the groundsman at Fursden Road (the school playing fields at Carina), the Boatman (who
supports the Rowing program) and an annual $20 000 donation to the library. These regular contributions will
continue in 2010. A major project planned for 2010 is the relocation of the Uniform Shop into more
convenient and spacious premises.
Please support your school by encouraging your son or daughter to buy his or her lunch at one of the
Canteens. If each State High student purchased lunch one day a week at one of the Canteens, we estimate
that the Canteen surplus available would double - which would be an enormous assistance in ensuring that
the educational experience offered by State High remains as great as it is.
