Connectors
Bullet, Lucar Spade and Eyelet Connectors
The Mini is one of the worst cars when it comes to corroded electrical connectors - probably
something to do with the car being low and taking a full hit of road spray in wet conditions,
plus the under-bonnet electrical equipment being much closer to the grille than in most other
cars. One way to improve matters and increase reliability (Lucar spade connectors on the horn,
coil and fusebox seem to be worst affected) is to wipe a little bit of petroleum jelly (‘Vaseline’ in
the countries where that brand is sold) on the connectors before attaching them to each other.
