About Picture Quality and Refresh Mode<br />

The notation at the bottom-left of each camera view indicates the picture quality and the refresh mode of the<br />

image in the view.<br />

For example, indicates the quality 5 at the Normal refresh mode. These concepts are described in the<br />

following sections.<br />

Picture Quality<br />

Picture quality (also known as resolution) refers to the compression level of the video images. The following<br />

qualities are available for recording purposes (these refer to <strong>Vicon</strong>Net devices and/or megapixel cameras):<br />

The quality and refresh mode in which video was recorded is displayed during the first five seconds of<br />

playback.<br />

The recorded video quality is determined according to the configuration settings for <strong>Manual</strong> Recording, Auto<br />

Record, Macro Creation and Pre/Post-Alarm. For additional details, refer to the relevant sections in Chapter 3,<br />

Configuring the <strong>Vicon</strong>Net System.<br />

When different recording options are requested concurrently, the recorded picture quality that applies is<br />

determined according to prioritization settings. For details, refer to the Picture Quality and FPS Priority section<br />

in Chapter 3, Configuring the <strong>Vicon</strong>Net System.<br />
