New Evidence on Daily Oral Hygiene

The course is intended for any member of the
dental team who interacts with patients on daily
oral hygiene. Special focus will be given to recent
university-based clinical trials using combination
therapies for plaque and gingivitis control,
including complex case types.
Robert Gerlach is a Research Fellow in Worldwide
Clinical Investigations at Procter & Gamble. His clinical
trials research includes initiatives in the areas of caries
prevention, periodontal therapy, and aesthetic dentistry,
especially tooth whitening. Dr. Gerlach’s work experience
includes various government and academic appointments,
as well as extensive private practice experience.

Brian Nový, DDS

What happens when spit doesn’t happen, and
why does a lack of saliva cause dental caries to
get out of control? Helping patients control their
caries risk isn’t always easy, but with a little more
information about saliva, you can make your
restorations last longer.
Brian Nový is an assistant professor of restorative
dentistry at Loma Linda University, where he teaches
a variety of courses including caries management and
evidence-based dentistry. In 2009, the American Dental
Association awarded Dr. Nový and his office the title,
“Adult Preventive Care Practice of the Year.”

Dr. Priest will present treatment options from
conventional dentures to fixed and removable
implant prostheses using clinical examples
and video segments.
George Priest maintains a prosthodontic practice in
Hilton Head SC. He lectures nationally and abroad and
is a regular contributor to notable dental journals. He is
a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics,
Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and
Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Dr. Priest
is a former professor in graduate prosthodontics at
Emory University.

This lecture will highlight the use of the Waterlase
iPlus in cosmetic dentistry and walk through the
steps from diagnosis to final bonding to achieve
harmony and balanced smile aesthetics in our
cosmetic cases. Essential lab communication
skills will also be discussed.
Les Rykiss obtained his degree at the University of
Manitoba and is also a graduate and Mentor at the Nash
Institute for Dental Learning in Charlotte, NC. He has an
Associate Fellowship in Laser Dentistry from the WCLI,
teaches restorative and pediatric dentistry and writes
articles on cosmetic dentistry and hard and soft tissue
laser use. Dr. Rykiss currently maintains in private
practice in Winnipeg, MB.

Predictable Implant Restorative
Techniques for the Every Day Practice

Implants are a vital treatment option for
replacement of missing teeth. Successful
implant treatments can be challenging for many
clinicians in order to achieve predictable results
and suitable aesthetics. This lecture will review
implant restorative techniques from simple to
complex cases.
Paresh Shah maintains a private practice in Winnipeg
with a focus on implant, cosmetic and interdisciplinary
care. He graduated from the University of Manitoba in
1991 and has a Certificate in Esthetic Dentistry from
the University of Buffalo in 2007. He is a consultant for
several dental manufacturers. He lectures internationally
on aesthetics, implants and interdisciplinary care.
