Special focus will be given to recent university-based clinical trials using combination therapies for plaque and gingivitis control, including complex case types. Robert Gerlach is a Research Fellow in Worldwide Clinical Investigations at Procter & Gamble. His clinical trials research includes initiatives in the areas of caries prevention, periodontal therapy, and aesthetic dentistry, especially tooth whitening. Dr. Gerlach’s work experience includes various government and academic appointments, as well as extensive private practice experience. Helping patients control their caries risk isn’t always easy, but with a little more information about saliva, you can make your restorations last longer. Brian Nový is an assistant professor of restorative dentistry at Loma Linda University, where he teaches a variety of courses including caries management and evidence-based dentistry. In 2009, the American Dental Association awarded Dr. Nový and his office the title, “Adult Preventive Care Practice of the Year.” Co-sponsored by GC America Inc. and Air Techniques Contemporary Alternatives for Edentulous Patients George Priest, DMD Friday, 1:30pm–4:00pm Technological breakthroughs in materials and techniques offer superior aesthetics and durability to prostheses for edentulous patients. Dr. Priest will present treatment options from conventional dentures to fixed and removable implant prostheses using clinical examples and video segments. George Priest maintains a prosthodontic practice in Hilton Head SC. He lectures nationally and abroad and is a regular contributor to notable dental journals. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Les Rykiss obtained his degree at the University of Manitoba and is also a graduate and Mentor at the Nash Institute for Dental Learning in Charlotte, NC. He has an Associate Fellowship in Laser Dentistry from the WCLI, teaches restorative and pediatric dentistry and writes articles on cosmetic dentistry and hard and soft tissue laser use. Since 1997, Glenn has worked exclusively with the Dental Operating Microscope (D.O.M.) for all of his clinical dentistry. Martin Trope moved from Johannesburg, South Africa to Philadelphia to specialize in endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania in 1980. He became chair of Endodontology at Temple University, and in 1993, accepted the JB Freedland Professorship in the Department of Endodontics University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
