or a family member’s face, lip, eye or skin that
keeps getting bigger every time we see them?
Do you bring it to their attention? I will make you
aware of the difference of “normal” and what
could be “abnormal”, quite possibly saving
their life!
In standup dental comedy Shannon Nanne has educated
health care professionals nationally and internationally
in over 100 courses. In 1994 she graduated from The
University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. As an
author she serves as a Key Opinion Leader for several
companies, publications and associations. She is an
ambassador with OCF, organizing walks and working
with cancer survivors.

This research-based seminar will provide
attendees knowledge that they can apply
immediately to improve their overall health.
Dental professionals are prone to unique muscle
imbalances and require special exercise, postural
techniques and fitness guidelines to avoid pain
syndromes or injury
Bethany Valachi is a physical therapist, dental ergonomic
consultant and author of the book, “Practice Dentistry
Pain-Free”. She is CEO of Posturedontics®, a company
that provides research-based dental ergonomic education,
and clinical instructor of ergonomics at OHSU School of
Dentistry in Portland, Oregon.

Hear my stories and see many photographs of
my volunteer travels which started in Madras,
India in 1990, continued in Guatemala, Kiribati in
the South Pacific and most recently in Danang,
Vietnam. You will appreciate the dental comforts
we sometimes take for granted!!
Laureen DiStefano received her DDS degree from
McGill University and then completed a General Practice
Residency in Schenectady, NY. She has practiced
dentistry in Jasper, Alberta and Valemount, BC for 25
years (plus a few locums and sabbaticals). Volunteering
and Traveling have been her passion and she has always
loved a good story!
Dealing with Dementia in the Office

A dental chair and open mouth equal some
extreme vulnerability for those with changing
brains. Their reality, often distorted, is not your
reality. Learn what Dementia is, the Stages of
Dementia, How to deal with the most Common
Distress Issues, and using the 5 R’s & the 4 A’s
in communication.
Ronine Sharp an RN over 35 years, spent the past 8
years studying and screening individuals for memory loss
that may signal dementia. She owns Sharp Dementia
Coaching and is known as “The Memory Nurse”. Her
assistance in a denturist office lead her to “2012 So You
Think You Can Speak” and that success brings her back
for a longer session for the 2013 conference.

The extensively broken-down bicuspid or molar
can be restored in composite resin attractively,
reliably and profitably on a conservative budget
if the right adhesives, flowables, resins, matrixes,
and clinical techniques are used. Procedures
shown will assist clinicians in less complex
restorations.
Peter Walford mentors study clubs in Composite Resin
technique and Adhesive Prosthodontics. He has presented
to UBC Continuing Education, Component Societies,
sponsored educational programs and study clubs. His
