patřilo fotografům
V souladu se současnými trendy zvolili pořadatelé
osmého ročníku Imperial Design Symposia za jediné
téma uměleckou fotografii, která se stává nedílnou
součástí přehlídek designu u nás i v zahraničí.
Letošní „fotografické“ Imperial Design Symposium má
pět účastníků. Mladí fotografové Jan Douša, Čeněk Folk
a Petr Pustina se ve své kolektivní práci volně inspirovali
historickými fotografiemi zaměstnanců karlovarského
hotelu Imperial. V rámci symposia vytvořili skupinové
i individuální portréty zaměstnanců, a to jak těch, se
kterými se hosté běžně setkávají, tak i méně viditelných
profesí, jakými jsou pokojské nebo zahradník. Fotografie
pořizovali klasickou cestou na velkoformátové černobílé
filmy 4 x 5 palců.
Další dva účastníci 8. ročníku Petr Kuklík a Petr Krejčí
se zaměřili na fotografie, které bude společnost Imperial
Karlovy Vary moci využít také na hotelových propagačních
materiálech. Petr Kuklík vytvořil soubor fotografií nočního
parku před hotelem Imperial, jemuž umělé osvětlení
vdechuje pohádkovou atmosféru. Petr Krejčí využil

možností moderní digitální fotografie a záběry pořizoval
metodou Light Painting, která umožňuje naprosto dokonalé
vykreslení detailů a struktur.
This year, the Imperial
Design Symposium was
photographers only
As the sole topic for this year, organisers of the
eighth Imperial Design Symposium chose fine-art
photography, which is becoming an integral part of
design shows in this country and abroad.
This year’s “photographic” Imperial Design Symposium
has five participants. Young photographers Jan Douša,
Čeněk Folk and Petr Pustina were loosely inspired in
their collective work by historic photographs taken
of employees of the Carlsbad Hotel Imperial. Within
the terms of the symposium they then took group
and individual photographs of employees, those who
guests ordinarily come into contact with, as well as
employees with less visible professions, such as maids or
the gardener. They took photographs using the classic
method, on large-format 4 x 5 inch black and white film.
The two remaining participants of the 8th Symposium,
Petr Kulkík and Petr Krejčí, focused on photographs,
which the Imperial Karlovy Vary company will also be
able to use in the hotel’s promotional materials. Petr
Kuklík created a series of photographs of the park in
front of the Hotel Imperial at night, when the artificial
lighting created a fairy-tale atmosphere. Petr Krejčí
used modern digital photography techniques to create
photographs using the light painting method, which
enables the photographer to highlight details and
structures perfectly.

In Einklang mit den gegenwärtigen Trends haben
die Veranstalter des achten Imperial Design
Symposiums als einziges Thema die künstlerische
Fotografie gewählt, die sich zu einem untrennbaren
Bestandteil der Designshows im In- wie auch im
Ausland entwickelt.
Das diesjährige „fotografische“ Imperial Design
Symposium hat fünf Teilnehmer. Die jungen
Fotografen Jan Douša, Čeněk Folk und Petr Pustina
haben sich in ihrer kollektiven Arbeit von den
historischen Fotos der Angestellten des Karlsbader
Hotels Imperial inspirieren lassen. Im Rahmen des
Symposiums haben sie Gruppenbilder und individuelle
Portraits der Angestellten hervorgebracht, und zwar
sowohl jener, denen die Gäste alltäglich begegnen,
als auch jener in den weniger sichtbaren Berufen, wie
Zimmermädchen oder Gärtner. Die Fotos wurden von
ihnen auf klassische Art und Weise auf Großformat-
Schwarzweißfilme 4 x 5" erstellt.
Die beiden weiteren Teilnehmer des 8. Symposiums
Petr Kuklík und Petr Krejčí haben sich auf Fotos
orientiert, die von der Gesellschaft Imperial Karlovy
Vary – Karlsbad auch in den Werbematerialien des
Hotels genutzt werden können. Petr Kuklík schuf
einen Fotozyklus des nächtlichen Parks vor dem Hotel
Imperial, dem von der künstlichen Beleuchtung eine
märchenhafte Atmosphäre verliehen wurde. Petr Krejčí
hat die Möglichkeiten des modernen Digitalfotos genutzt
und die Aufnahmen mit der Methode Light Painting
gemacht, die ein absolut vollkommenes Darstellen von
Details und Strukturen möglich macht.
