Strategic Direction
Goal 7:
Enhance the comprehensive trail system which offers active transportation, programming and
event opportunities, interpretation, internal and external connectivity, and social cohesion.
Objectives:
a) Work towards an accessible network of trails that is appealing to a wide range of users and is able to offer a number of
visual, social, recreational, interpretive and physical experiences.
b) Develop an interconnected trail and pathway system that connects people to places within the community and to areas
adjacent to the Town.
c) Encourage the integration of cycling onto the Town’s road system through a combination of facility development and
public education.
Goal 8:
Seek opportunities to deliver recreation, parks and cultural services to all residents in partnership
with other public, community and private sector providers.
Objectives:
a) Form appropriate partnerships as a means to effectively manage growth and development, and harness the communitybuilding
capacity of potential partners.
b) Encourage the involvement of community organizations, service providers and adjacent municipalities in the recreation,
parks and culture system through appropriate partnerships and collaborations.
c) Make every effort to strengthen relationships with existing partners to find ways to collectively improve the delivery of
services.
d) Continue to partner and work cooperatively with the Boards of Education to provide access to school facilities and
grounds.
e) Strengthen the Town’s leadership role through community engagement with all segments of the population.
