Women’s and Children’s Pavilion
The new Women’s and Children’s Pavilion at Methodist
Le Bonheur Germantown opened in early 2010,
featuring room for 100 additional patients, 600 more
parking spaces and 24 private neonatal intensive care
unit (NICU) rooms for parents and their newborns. The
Pavilion is one of only a handful of hospitals nationwide
to receive gold-level certification from the LEED
system, designated by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Center of Excellence
in Faith and Health
As a faith-based institution rooted in The United
Methodist Church, it is only natural that within the
walls of Methodist University Hospital will soon be the
first-ever Center of Excellence in Faith and Health.
The scope of its work will be local, national and even
international. Because we recognize family members
as an important part of the care team, the hub of this
newly renovated 16,000 square foot area will be a
state-of-the-art family care space, formerly the
intensive care waiting room. The Center will also offer
space for interfaith training, research, reflection and
innovation.

Children's Hospital and the University of Tennessee
Health Science Center jointly launched a new
pediatric specialty faculty group practice – UT
Le Bonheur Pediatric Specialists.
Methodist University Hospital
Transplant Institute
The only abdominal transplant program in West
Tennessee, the Methodist University Hospital
Transplant Institute continues to have great success,
giving new life to 250 patients in 2009. In partnership
with the University of Tennessee Health Science
Center, the program became the seventh largest
program in the nation for liver transplantation and 35th
in kidney transplantation. Thanks to our dedicated team
of physicians and multi-disciplinary transplant team
members, the Transplant Institute’s one-year graft
survival and life expectancy outcomes are among the
best in the nation. The transplant program recently
achieved Center of Excellence status from all major
insurers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Blue
Distinction Centers for Transplant (BDCT), which
signifies that the program meets stringent clinical
criteria in balance with growing transplant volume.
Physician Partnerships
Healthcare reform has caused health providers and
physicians to seek new ways to align for better
efficiency and sustainability. This year Sutherland
Cardiology Clinic and The CardioVascular Center
became a part of the Methodist Le Bonheur
Center of Excellence in Faith and Health
