Teamwork
By attracting and retaining diverse, yet like-minded
individuals who embrace and support Methodist
Le Bonheur Healthcare’s core values of service,
quality, integrity and teamwork, we are able to
provide compassionate patient- and familycentered
care. Weaving together the varied
backgrounds and experience of our 10,000
Associates forms an extraordinary, supportive
culture. And while our experiences are many, our
goal is singular – to be the Mid-South’s top
healthcare provider, and to reach that goal together.
Perhaps one of the greatest attributes of our
Associates lies in their generosity. Whether it’s
giving to fellow Associates in need, to the United
Way, volunteering their time with one of our
Adopt-a-Schools or participating in one our many
community health screening events, Methodist
Associates show us over and over again how much
they care about our patients, their families, our
community and each other. In 2009 alone,
Methodist Le Bonheur Associates contributed
$480,000 to the Methodist Foundation Humanitarian
Fund and $500,000 for the United Way.
Inspiration Awards
Every quarter, Associates from across the system
are chosen to receive a Miracle in Motion award,
and each year, one of these Associates is chosen to
receive an Inspiration Award. In 2009, we had a
special team of nurses inspire us; Carol Shelton and
Patient Care Coordinators Lynne Sherer, and
Jennifer Harper, of Methodist North Hospital.
When a patient with a terminal diagnosis agreed to
marry her fiancé after finding out her health was
rapidly failing, Carol, Lynne and Jennifer rushed to
accommodate the couple’s wish to marry in the
chapel at Methodist North Hospital the next day.
From decorations, to flowers and veil, this dedicated
trio worked with chaplains and the family to make
the patient’s dream come true overnight. Thank you
for being an inspiration to all of us.
In recognition of this positive, giving environment at
Methodist, we were named to Modern Healthcare’s
“Top 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare” list for
2009 - one of only three Tennessee organizations to
make the list.
