user management is complete. Local user creation includes the assignment of one or more
portal roles, including identification of the user’s primary role which is used in
determining the initial view of the data that will be presented to the user upon login.
Portal accounts are verified via a confirmation email containing an activation url that is
sent to the user. The portal administrator has the ability to manage role assignments, user
profile information, and enable/disable accounts. In the case of a forgotten password, a
facility is provided to reset a user’s password.
An administrative interface to XDMoD has been developed that will provide developers
with the necessary functionality for creating local users and mapping those users to usage
data for actual TeraGrid users. This will simplify development and testing.
Implementation of the portal wireframes are 80% complete with the remainder to be
completed within the next reporting period. Initial versions of identified charts and
visualizations generated with data from the TGCdb are currently being integrated into the
portal. Figure 1. below is an example of an XDMoD screen displaying summary
information for a particular TG User. We are working with a graphic designer at UB to
develop a look-and-feel for the portal. We have presented a prototype of the new
interface at TeraGrid 10, the annual TG users meeting in Pittsburgh (August 2-5, 2010).

• XDMoD Data Warehouse: We have begun exploration of the data contained in the
TeraGrid Central Database (TGCdb). To date, queries have been implemented to explore
user, organization, allocation, resource, and job information. Design work has begun on
an abstraction layer for querying and extracting data from the TGCdb. In order to
provide rapid visualizations of TGCdb data for the XDMoD prototype, the Google Maps
and Chart APIs are being employed to develop a number of initial data views. These will
