Grady High School Region 17 (Cumming) West Forsyth High School Region 10 (Macon) Middle Georgia Christian Home School Association Region 11 (Marietta) Mount Paran Christian School Middle Georgia Christian Home School Association Team Receives Professionalism Award at State Finals The State Finals Planning Board of the Georgia High School Mock Trial Committee presented the 2011 State Finals Professionalism Award to the mock trial team from Middle Georgia Christian Home School Association, the region winner from Region 10 – Macon, was selected. This award is sponsored by the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism. This is the third year that this award has been presented at state finals. The award was determined by ballots cast by the competing teams and a tally of team points awarded by judging panel volunteers in the two preliminary rounds. The MGCHSA team demonstrated the following attributes throughout the entire weekend: fair play, a professional demeanor, civility, integrity, competence, honesty, respect for the Court, respect for their opposing counsel, and respect for the client. 27

Grady High School (Atlanta) for the third year in a row, became the 2011 Georgia Champion from a field of 16 regional and 2 wildcard teams at State Finals held at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville on March 19‐20, 2011. After two preliminary rounds at State, four semi‐finalists emerged: Grady High School (Atlanta), Mount Paran Christian School (Kennesaw), Jonesboro High School (Jonesboro), and Clarke Central High School (Athens). Judge Steve Jones (U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Georgia), Judge Edward Carriere (retired, State Court of DeKalb County), Judge Stephen Dillard (Court of Appeals of Georgia), and Judge Christopher McFadden (Court of Appeals of Georgia) presided over the semi‐final round. From this semi‐final round, Grady High School and Clarke Central High School survived to compete in the final round for the state title. Judge Louisa Abbot (Superior Court of Chatham County of Georgia) and Judge Sara Doyle (Court of Appeals of Georgia) presided in the final round. Grady earned its fifth state title after a hard fought contest Clarke Central. The Grady team advanced to the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Phoenix, Arizona on May 6 th and 7 th .
