3.2 CONSUMPTION
Germany is the largest clothing and outwear market in the EU with a total
consumption of about 51 billion € in 2009. Thus Germany accounted for 19% of
the total EU clothing and outerwear market, worth 268 billion €.

The average per capita spending for outwear in 2007 was 618€. Every German
household 1 spent in average 888€ for outwear, whereas a family with 2 kids on
average purchased outwear worth 1.452€. Germans, however, spent less than 5%
of their disposable income on clothing.
