Winter walking<br />

The <strong>Engadin</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Moritz</strong> holiday region has 150km (93 miles) of paths and trails<br />

waiting to be explored. For a well-deserved rest, you can stop off at one of the<br />

many cosy cafés and restaurants along the way. On a stroll across the frozen<br />

<strong>Engadin</strong> lakes, you really appreciate the great expanse of the high valley and,<br />

especially at sunset, the magical quality of light in the <strong>Engadin</strong>. The flat winter<br />

walking paths from Maloja to Silvaplana and on to <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Moritz</strong> are perfect for<br />

families – depending on snow conditions, with pushchairs, too. For a particularly<br />

picturesque winter walk, follow the path from Sils into the romantic Val Fex, or<br />

from Maloja through the snow-blanketed forest to the frozen Lake Cavloccio.<br />

From <strong>Pontresina</strong> you can also enjoy extended hikes into the magnificent Val<br />

Roseg or the majestic Val Morteratsch. Those setting their sights higher can follow<br />

the Philosophers’ Trail up on Muottas Muragl. Along this idyllic winter walking<br />

trail, seats furnished with woollen blankets encourage walkers to linger<br />

in contemplation.
