1 This is a letterhead and business card I designed for a fictional
publisher. I was reading Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel at the
time of this brief and decided that I wanted my publishers to be the
kind of company that dealt with books which were similar to this
gritty controversial autobiography. I used a real manual typewriter
and ink to achieve this look of an emotional authors frustration.
2 This was a live brief taken on by my year for the Regenerating
Buildings Preservation Trust. They wanted an identity for a project
they were doing of restoring a Georgian house to its former glory.
This was a poster I designed for the open day. I used a small blown
up section of a Georgian textile design I found and layered it in
typically Georgian colours.
3 This is a double page spread taken from a magazine design brief
my year did. It is a life style publication featuring articles about art,
entertainment, food etc. I wanted it to have a visually fun and classy
feel to it, in keeping with the subject matter.
Reflections Starting my degree at the age of 26 was the best
decision I have ever made. It has been a real roller coaster of ups
and downs but I am proud of my achievements and for getting
through the downs with a heightened determination to earn a living
from the subject I love – Graphic design.
Aspirations I look forward to progressing my design skills and
becoming a valuable member of a design studio. After years of
being a student it will be nice to have some routine in my life and be
able to plan for the future; I’d like to buy a barge to live on.
