Guidance: Several hydrologic indicators exist that help assess water conditions at a site. This section focuses on those<br />

Mosses or liverworts. These are in a group of plants called bryophytes, which lack true roots<br />

and leaves, and are found in moist environments. When water levels fall, they appear as a dark<br />

greenish-brown growth on the bark of trees or on hard substrates such as rocks.<br />
